Dance Fitness – still places available

There are still places available and we would particularly like to encourage you to try this fun and varied way of keeping fit.

Dance fitness combines light and adapted movements, music and joy. The aim is to safely improve stamina, balance, coordination and flexibility, but also to improve well-being and have an enjoyable time with others.

No dance experience is necessary, and everyone takes part according to their own ability and fitness level. The classes are led by physiotherapist Ingibjorg Viktoría Hafsteinsdóttir, who can adapt the exercises to the different needs of the participants.

Research suggests that music, dance and even laughter can have a positive effect on the experience of pain. These factors do not cure the underlying condition, but can reduce stress, distract from pain, increase well-being and make exercise more enjoyable. Dancing to music therefore combines many elements that can support the well-being of people with chronic pain: safe exercise, music, joy, and social interaction.

This is also in line with the guidelines of EULAR, the European League Against Rheumatism, where regular and individualised exercise is considered an important part of the treatment for rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases. It is important to choose an activity that suits each person's ability and interests – one that people enjoy and feel confident about doing regularly.

Dance fitness can therefore be a good option for those who find traditional exercise difficult, monotonous or inaccessible. The emphasis is not on knowing the moves or performing everything perfectly, but on moving in your own way, enjoying the music and the company, and having a good time.
