The Arthritis Society of Iceland's Research Fund is a special fund that provides research grants on rheumatic diseases and related health problems. He plays an important role in promoting Scientific work and research which contribute to a better diagnosis, treatment and understanding of arthritis.

Purpose of the fund

  • Supporting scientific research which concern:
    • Causes of rheumatic diseases
    • Treatments and drug therapy
    • The social impact of arthritis
    • Rehabilitation and prevention
  • To strengthen knowledge of healthcare professionals and the public on rheumatism.

 

Who can apply?

  • Doctors, healthcare professionals and scientists who are engaged in research in the field of rheumatology.
  • University students in master's and doctoral studies with a research project in the field of rheumatology.
  • Research groups operating within universities or hospitals.

 

Application process

  • The application must include:
    • Description of the research project and objectives
    • Methodology and timeframe
    • Budget
    • CV of the researcher or principal investigator
    • Approval of the ethics committee, where applicable
  • Applications are usually considered once a year.

 

Amount of grants

  • Grants can be from several hundred thousand up to millions of kronor, depending on the nature and scope of the project.
