Next autumn, the Arthritis Society will be offering occupational therapy. The aim of the Arthritis Society's occupational therapy is to help people maintain and improve their mobility, thereby enhancing their quality of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

Occupational therapist Gu\u00f0bj\u00f6rg Gu\u00f0mundsd\u00f3ttir will start working for the Arthritis Association of Iceland in August 2025. Gu\u00f0bj\u00f6rg will be the Head of the Arthritis Association's Occupational Therapy Department.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

She has over 20 years' experience as an occupational therapist in various fields, e.g. with the elderly, disabled people, and individuals with mental health issues, and has been a part-time lecturer at the University of <\/a>Akureyri and, for the past year, has been a project manager in the social services of Borgarbygg\u00f0. She worked for the Arthritis Association of Iceland from 2006 to 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gu\u00f0bj\u00f6rg Gu\u00f0mundsd\u00f3ttir has extensive experience in rehabilitation therapies.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gu\u00f0bj\u00f6rg graduated as an occupational therapist (BSc) from the University of Akureyri in 2003 and completed a Master's degree in Health Sciences with a focus on rehabilitation from the University of Akureyri in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Svava Arnarsd\u00f3ttir will start working at the Arthritis Society in September 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Svava graduated as an occupational therapist from the University of Akureyri in 2016 and completed a Master's degree in Disability Studies from the University of Iceland in 2024. She has specialised in work related to mental health, empowerment and advocacy. Svava is also the chairperson of Ge\u00f0hj\u00e1lp, has lectured part-time at HA, and previously worked at Janus Endurh\u00e6fing and Hugarafl. Svava looks forward to bringing her experience to the Rheumatism Association, for example, regarding life with chronic pain and the interplay between body and mind in modern society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
